Mrs. Hearn discusses her childhood memories of Mrs. Sarah Graham Kenan. Mrs. Hearn's uncle, Denver Clarence ("Pat") Padrick, was Mrs. Kenan's chauffeur. As a child, Mary Lou visited her uncle and aunt often. Pat Padrick and his wife Laura lived on the Kenan House property in a carriage house. The state-owned Kenan House became the home of the UNCW chancellor. The carriage house on the Kenan House grounds is named the Padrick House.
