The WWAY Television News Archive is a unique audiovisual chronicle of a period of tremendous growth and change for Southeast North Carolina. As one of only two stations in the region for much of its history, WWAY informed viewers from Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, and Sampson Counties – as well as those of Horry County, South Carolina – of the events of the day.

After winning the National Junior College Baseball Championship in Grand Junction, Colo., the Wilmington College baseball team was honored with a Joint Resolution by the N. C. Senate. The Wilmington College baseball team were national champions in 1961 and 1963.
