This is a newsletter published by the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 1982-1990. It's currently presented by the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center, a statewide digitization program and digital publishing platform.

The WWAY Television News Archive is a unique audiovisual chronicle of a period of tremendous growth and change for Southeast North Carolina. As one of only two stations in the region for much of its history, WWAY informed viewers from Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, and Sampson Counties – as well as those of Horry County, South Carolina – of the events of the day.

After winning the National Junior College Baseball Championship in Grand Junction, Colo., the Wilmington College baseball team was honored with a Joint Resolution by the N. C. Senate. The Wilmington College baseball team were national champions in 1961 and 1963.

1962 was Wilmington College’s rookie year in the National Junior Collegiate Championship basketball tournament.

To thank the county for its support of Wilmington College, the Board of Trustees named the new gymnasium New Hanover Hall.

Thanks to a fund-raising project, UNCW commencement got a lot cooler.

Michael Jordan returns to his hometown to coach at a basketball camp at UNCW.

The first UNCW athletics director was inducted into the NC Sports Hall.
