This guide identifies collections both by and about women. These mostly pertain to women’s organizations, family papers, artists’ work, and personal accounts of women in Southeast North Carolina, though some are from outside the region. Content speaks to women’s experiences from the 1800s through the present, particularly in the context of wars, political movements, and cultural upheavals, while also representing everyday life across several time periods. Material includes correspondence, business records, artwork, financial documents, photographs, memorabilia, news clippings, publications, professional and personal writings, education information, and oral histories.
