Creating a Video
Creating a video for a project, assignment, or personal endeavor is a process. Think of creating a video in three stages:
- Pre-production: Write a script or storyboard.
- Production: Recording your footage.
- Post-Production: Editing your video.
Best Practices
Be sure to plan for your filming. Getting the best quality video means understanding your location and equipment.
- Location: Plan your locations. Ensure that if you are filming in a noisy area, that you have microphones to record good quality audio. Background noise like busy streets can ruin footage of speaking. Be mindful of lighting so your video is clear.
- Equipment: Familiarize yourself with equipment before filming. Ensure any equipment that needs to be charged has enough battery or power sources for your filming.
- Do not rely on Post-Production: Editing is useful and can help improve your footage and flow, but don't rely on a magic enhance button to clean up your audio or video (magic enhance buttons do not exist). Often attempting to clean things up in post-production is twice as time-consuming as re-shooting your video.
- Back up your files: Always back up your source and project files. Use OneDrive, external hard drives, or other cloud services to keep your files safe.
- One Folder: Keep all your project files such as images, music, and video in a single folder.
