- Albert Schweitzer International Prizes Ceremony at UNC-Wilmington, 1975The first Albert Schweitzer International Prizes Awards Ceremony took place at the University of North Carolina Wilmington on October 23, 1975. The Prizes were founded to honor the memory of Albert Schweitzer, philosopher, physician, clergyman, and Nobel prize-winner. Awardees Mother Teresa of Calcutta in the humanities; Gian Carlo Menotti, music; and Dr. Theodor Binder, medicine; were in attendance, along with UNCW Chancellor William H. Wagoner.
