Below is a list of spaces in the library in which you can do data-related work.
On the first floor of the Discovery Hall, this is a classroom sized space with a large touch-screen monitor for hosting data-related events and instruction. The monitor spans the length of an entire wall and is hooked up to a high performance computer. Multiple screens can be showcased on this monitor at once.
On the second floor of Randall Hall, this is a room with restricted access for researchers to work with their sensitive data. The room has physical and digital security meeting NIST security standards.
On the first floor of the Discovery Hall, this is a computer bank. Work can be done here using special licenses for locally installed software such as NVIVO and SPSS.
UNCW hosts a series of data-related workshops, occurring annually during the week of Valentine's Day. See the upcoming schedule of events and previous years' recordings.
An initiative co-partnered by UNCW Library and the College of Science and Engineering, this service provides statistical and programming support for quantitative data analysis researchers at UNCW.
When completing a grant application with the SPARC office, take advantage of getting individualized line editing review on your application's Data Management Plan. While SPARC will check that the application is compliant and meets the format requirements of the funder, the library has expertise with the content expected within Data Management Plans, and can also provide data-related budget recommendations to include in your application.
Use DMPTool to get started and request feedback through the tool. (Or email Lynnee Argabright directly)
Throughout the research process, the library can offer support on any aspect of qualitative and quantitative data--such as data design, data collection, data cleaning, data management, data analysis, data visualization, and data sharing.
You may review the library's Research Data Services handout (PDF) for additional ideas of ways the library can support your research.
Request a consultation.
Instructors are welcome to request an instruction session or repeated instructional support for their classes as it pertains to data. The library will be happy to come up with an instruction plan that meets your class needs. Topics could include (but are certainly not limited to) data literacy, finding data, collecting data ethically, data management.
